Halter Named To Humboldt State University Post
07 July 2004
Dr. Reese Halter, founder and president of Global Forest Science, has been appointed an Adjunct Professor of Botany in the Department of Biological Sciences at Humboldt State University in northern California. The appointment was announced by Milton J. Boyd, Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences, and is effective immediately.

Humboldt State’s campus at Arcata, California – located between the glittering waters of the Pacific Ocean and the towering redwood groves of the coastal mountains – suits Dr. Halter’s expertise exactly. As an international tree biologist, conservationist and ecological author and commentator, Dr. Halter has focused extensively not just on issues of forest conservation, but specifically on the Californian redwoods, the tallest trees on earth.

“I’ve been fascinated with forests, and most especially redwoods, my entire life and this new association with Humboldt State is both an exciting challenge and a dream come true,” Dr. Halter said.

Humboldt University, with 7,400 students in more than 100 degree and certificate programs, is consistently rated among the top 10 per cent of regional colleges and universities in the United States. Specifically, its biology program is nationally recognized for small class sizes, individual attention and a wide variety of opportunities to gain research experience.
