The flora in our forests potentially contains numerous answers and perhaps cures for the world's modern diseases. One such recent example is taxol - a compound derived from the bark, wood and roots of the Pacific yew tree that is being used to fight both ovarian and breast cancer. Global Forest supports several studies, which are both investigating medicinal properties of plants and understanding how the First Peoples utilize and harness indigenous plants.
